Radio 4DX, a voice for North Queensland and the NT

Broadcasting from South Johnstone, a small community about 100 km SSW of Cairns in Far North Queensland, Radio 4DX has a format mainly based on the biggest hits of the last 60 years. We feature some of the biggest artists and groups from yesteryear to today. We are not afraid to play many huge instrumental hits over the ages, with hourly surprises.

4DX is owned and operated by well-known radio man Al Kirton, who has been in the business since 1970.

Our station can be heard on various platforms:

  • Download the free 4DX phone app from the App Store.
  • On shortwave 5055 kHz AM in the 60-metre shortwave band.
  • On various FM LPONs on 87.6 & 88.0 MHz.

Being in the tropics, we take weather seriously and feature hourly Queensland and N.T. bulletins, focusing particularly on North Queensland.
